Anyway, I always hype it up to my kids, and this was our draft day number talk. The strategies they came up with to figure it out were amazing, and we had such a great conversation! They figured it out! I told them when they had the answer they had to stand up and do the "Heisman pose"... It is so fun in cooperating what I love into the class, and I think the kids loved it just as much as me! :)
NFL Draft is one of my all time favorite days because I absolutely LOVE football! (GO PATRIOTS!! hehe)

It's a cloudy day in Las Vegas, but we decided to brave the "cold" and get busy washing cars to raise some money for our Disney Musical production of Aladdin. I am helping direct the play and this is one way we decided to try and raise money. It was a fun time, and we had so much fun with the kiddos, and we raised $600!! All of our hard work paid off! Until... it rained later on that night!!! Oh well, it was a great bonding experience and I loved every minute!
We are reading "The Day Jimmy's Boa Ate the Wash" to learn about cause and effect. I thought it would be interesting for my students to tie in some non-fiction research while reading this story so we decided to pick a snake and research it! It has been a fun learning experience for them (me, not so much, I don't like snakes!! hehe) but they are learning a lot and I can't wait to hear their final presentations! (with my eyes closed... just kidding!!)
This year we became an Earth Day Superhero! We read through lots of books of how to help the planet, and then brainstormed a plan on how we can be superheros every day to help the Earth! Then we had to match our writing with an actual SUPERHERO! This is the result! So adorable, and fun!
Earth Day is one of the best units to teach! (In my opinion) It teaches students a life lesson in a fun way. One of the many ways I like to do this, is through the message of the Lorax. We read the story and do lots of activities then the students write a narrative story about how they plan to help the Earth, just like the Lorax. Then we take this fun picture to go along with it for our bulletin board! :)
